INFLIGHT INNOVATIONS

In 1992, Emirates became the first airline in the world to provide a personal video system on every seat in aircraft configured in three classes. Passenger reaction was ecstatic to the system, supplied by Hughes Avicom and branded Emirates Television, which offers more than 37 hours of video Entertainment on six channels in addition to a varied selection of music on nine audio channels. In First Class cabins, video players have been incorporated into the seat arm-rests and passengers have the advantage of a library of videos from which to choose, in addition to the distributed programs.

Now, Emirates has provided its Boeing 777 passengers with a stunning package of audio and visual entertainment - up to 18 audio-video and 22 audio channels - distributed with the latest technology in a system supplied by GEC Marconi.
